Dozens of tornadoes ripped through the South, flattening homes and businesses and killing at least 215 people in six states in the deadliest outbreak in nearly 40 years. As day broke Thursday, people in hard-hit Alabama surveyed flattened, debris-strewn neighborhoods and told of pulling bodies from rubble after the storms passed Wednesday afternoon and evening.

Police: WR Brandon Marshall stabbed by wife
Authorities said the wife of Brandon Marshall stabbed the Miami Dolphins wide receiver with a kitchen knife, and his agent said Saturday that the player was recovering.
Michi Nogami-Marshall, 26, was arrested Friday evening and charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. According to the Broward County Sheriff's Office arrest report, Nogami-Marshall told officers she was defending herself. Marshall had earlier told officers he slipped and fell onto a broken glass vase, but the officers noted that evidence at the scene didn't substantiate that claim.

Lindsay Lohan released from jail
Lindsay Lohan was freed from Lynwood Correctional Facility at 9:21 p.m. Friday night after posting $75,000 bail. The actress was sentenced earlier in the day to 120 days in jail for violating her probation by taking a necklace from a jewelry store.

Lindsay Lohan sentenced, 120 days in jail
TMZ reported that Judge Stephanie Sautner just threw the book at Lindsay Lohan for her probation violation, sentencing her to 120 days in county jail.
She has been remanded in to custody, her lawyer said that she will appeal.
In her sentence Lindsay ordered to complete 480 hours of community service, 360 of those hours must be performed at the Downtown Women's Center.The remaining 120 hours will be served at the L.A. County morgue.

By the end of the day Friday, a shocked and flattered Scranton Police Chief Dan Duffy had seen a picture of the sticker. The sticker was produced in reaction to the Fraternal Order of Police labor grievance targeting an arrest he made while off duty, something the union argues is the exclusive work of those in the bargaining unit.
"The sticker is a nice gesture, and I appreciate the support," he said. "But I'm actually a little embarrassed, and it's sad this sprang out of a controversy."

The San Diego Zoo is known around the world for having one of the most important collections of animals anywhere. Just a couple weeks ago, the zoo welcomed its latest additions, two Malayan tiger cubs who are already enormously popular.

Wildfires raging through parts of Texas have killed a second firefighter.
Elias Jaquez, 49, died Wednesday, 11 days after getting trapped in a fire and suffering burns, Cactus City Manager Steve Schmidt-Witcher said Thursday.

We were at the eastern gate to the Libyan city of Ajdabiya 10 days ago trying to figure out which way the frontline was going when I first spotted Tim Hetherington out here.
He came bounding over, grinning broadly, cameras dripping from his neck. I teased him about his huge success with 'Restrepo', his gritty documentary about life embedded with a US unit in the Korengal Valley in Afghanistan.

Tim Hetherington's Courage Under Fire
Award-winning war photographer Tim Hetherington was killed today in the Libyan city of Misrata, where rebels have been trying to hold off a brutal assault by the Libyan army. A statement from his family said he was killed by a rocket-propelled grenade. A second photographer, Chris Hondros of Getty Images, has also died of wounds sustained in Misrata today.
In a message sent from his Twitter account yesterday, his first tweet in months, Hetherington wrote: "In besieged Libyan city of Misrata. Indiscriminate shelling by Qaddafi forces. No sign of NATO."

Nicolas Cage has been arrested in New Orleans late Friday Night after a drunken argument with his wife outside a residence in the French Quarter.
The 47 year old oscar winner actor was taken into custody on friday and charged with domestic abuse, disturbing the peace and public drunkenness, New Orleans Police spokesman Garry Flot said in a written statement.
According to the statement , cage was seen having argument with his wife on the street in the city's French Quarter.
"(Cage) and his wife were standing in front of a residence that he insisted was the property the couple was renting," Flot said in the statement.
"She disagreed and Cage grabbed her by the upper arm and pulled her to what he believed was the correct address."
The actor then began striking cars and tried to get into a taxi cab, Flot said.
"At that point, an officer who had been flagged down by on-lookers drove up on the couple, immediately observed that Cage was heavily intoxicated and ordered him out of the cab, which prompted Cage to start yelling. The officers subsequently took Cage to Central Lock-Up," Flot said.

Woman alleges sexual assault in empty Denver concourse
Most travelers likely consider airports to be safe spaces, but that sense of security could shaken for some after a disturbing report out of Denver.
Denver's KUSA Channel 9 reports:

A secret memo released online by the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) in its 'Vault' has emerged as proof for the famed landing -- or crash or capture -- of a flying saucer with three dead aliens in Roswell in New Mexico in June 1947.

The memo, titled 'Flying Saucers', was written by FBI agent Guy Hottel. The decades-old memo, which was published by the FBI in its 'Vault,' says "three so-called flying saucers had been recovered in New Mexico', citing an Air Force investigator.

Japan bans planting rice in contaminated soil
Fears of radiation spread to rice as the planting season began in Japan, prompting the government to ban its cultivation in contaminated soil as fallout leaking from a tsunami-damaged nuclear plant dealt another blow to the national diet.
Vegetables and milk were the first foods that sparked concerns about the safety of Japanese agriculture after the March 11 tsunami flooded the nuclear plant and its reactors began to overheat and spew radiation. But those worries intensified when highly radioactive water was spotted gushing from the complex into the Pacific and contaminated fish showed up in catches.
Those concerns have abated somewhat after the leak was plugged and bans on produce from some areas were lifted.
But rice has now come under the microscope as the planting season begins in April and May.
"We had to come up with a policy quickly because we are in planting season," said Agriculture Minister Michihiko Kano, who announced the ban Friday.Read More..

Director Sidney Lumet is not anymore ,dies at 86
Director Sidney Lumet died today at his home in Manhattan.
His stepdaughter, Leslie Gimbel, told the New York Times that the cause was lymphoma.
Lumet was Oscar-nommed for "12 Angry Men," "Dog Day Afternoon," "Network" and "The Verdict." He never won an Academy Award for directing but was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Oscar in 2005. His other notable titles included "Serpico," "The Pawnbroker," "Prince of the City," for which he was nommed for screenplay, and recently, "Before the Devil Knows You're Dead."Read More..
