Proudfoot, a defensive back, was named a CFL all-star in 1974 and '77, both Grey Cup-winning seasons for Montreal.
He was also hailed as a hero for risking his life to administer first aid to a wounded student during the 2006 shooting rampage at Dawson College.
“I’ve been blessed with so much love and support, it’s truly overwhelming,” Proudfoot wrote in a mid-December farewell to Gazette readers. “The concern and compassion everyone has afforded me is amazing, unfathomable.”..........
